I loved leading the glam team for Shelby’s wedding last November! Choosing the ACE Hotel in Downtown LA for her get-ready location, myself and my glam team makeup-ed and styled Shelby and her 5 person bridal party with the beautiful views of DTLA surrounding us. It was exciting to be in such a unique space; adding to the day’s vintage vibe and allowing Shelby and her new husband to take some amazing wedding photos!

A Classic Hollywood Glam Look

I love the link between old world and new world in the classic Hollywood glam look. Inspired by the lush vintage waves and classic makeup of Golden Age Hollywood starlets, Shelby chose the perfect look to accentuate her features! I love how the Hollywood waves enhance her face structure and the red lips give a complementary pop of color! As a hair and makeup artist, old Hollywood glam looks are some of my favorite to create because the look is so classic and timeless!

Downtown Los Angeles - The Inconspicuous Wedding Destination

DTLA has always surprised me when it comes to wedding venues. It would never be the first place I would go to to look, and yet, it has some beautiful hidden gems just waiting to be discovered! This spot, the ACE Hotel, is gorgeous with it’s Downtown views and historic past dating to the Old Hollywood Era itself. Opening in 1927, the hotel was built as both a hotel and theater for the United Artists (founded by entertainments greats like Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford!). Fun facts include: it was the tallest building in DTLA for 1 year when it was finished in 1927 and was built with 13 floors! It is also one of Los Angeles’ Historical-Cultural Monuments and was the perfect backdrop to start Shelby’s glamorous day!
