Corporate Photos, Videos, & Headshots with Ruth B Medrano - Hairstylist & Makeup Artist
Corporate photos, photoshoots, videos and headshots are probably the least favorite activities in the white-collar work year. They can be uncomfortable and disturb your schedule, but they are necessary and can actually be a lot of fun!
They are your visual business card of sorts. They present who you are and how seriously you take yourself at a quick glance. One of the important things to decide when booking corporate headshots is whether to book a makeup artist (and hairstylist) as well. Should you spend the extra budget on an artist?
My answer is a resounding YES!! And not just because I’m a makeup artist, but because I know the value of the services I offer. Makeup and hairstyling, as in the day to day, is an opportunity to elevate your natural look. A little fill in the brows, a little blush to bring freshness into the face really does the face a favor. On the daily, your makeup and hair routine works great. But even when you go to an event or an important meeting; getting a blow out, fresh manicure, and even spending a few extra minutes on your makeup is a given. So when it comes to a corporate photo, you will want to bring your best look forward.
When working with photography or video, there is a different way to apply makeup than on the daily. The natural eye will accept the colors it sees, but a camera lens will see through and catch different undertones and blemishes beneath the foundations and makeup layers (And even with photoshop these colors can be hard to completely eradicate and will cost you more on the back end in post-editing). Plus with today’s Ultra 4 & 5K cameras, we’re seeing everything. Hire a professional, who’s worked with both photography and video to give you the best results…to bring your best look forward for all your current and potential clientele. Hair, eyes (and I’ll add to this Face!), smile, shoes as they say. …With hair and eyes (face) being the emphasis!!
Now corporate photo makeup and hairstyling is more natural. But having a professional applying the right products and colors, keeping you looking fresh, and adding that extra professional layer will be well worth your investment. And as a bonus on the back end, now you have a go-to artist for all your yearly events and very important meetings!
