The 10 Best Barbie Hairstyles to wear Now!
It’s here!! It’s been building up since last year and all of our Barbie dreams are coming true!! You can definitely count me, 10+yr hair and makeup artist, Ruth, as part of the hype!! Since we were young (and pre-personal cell phone era!) Barbie has been apart of our lives!! Now that we’re adults, we are the Barbies!! I love it!! Today I want to touch on a few great Barbie hairstyles that you can wear everyday, for a party, or to keep in mind for your Halloween costume this year!!
Barbie’s Classic Pony
We just love Barbie’s classic pony!! (Insert Heart Eye Emoji Here!!)!! Also known as a 90’s flipped ponytail, this style is pretty simple to create!! 1st: Section out your bang section and clip out of the way. 2nd: Pull all your hair into a ponytail and tie. 3rd: Straighten your hair until you get to the ends, then flip up with your straightener to give that nice curl at the end. Or curl from mid-pony to ends for a more curly look! 4th: Apply ponytail extension. 5th: Style bang area! And that’s it!! 2. Barbie’s Half Up/Half Down Voluminous Hairstyle
Barbie’s half half up half down voluminous look is a style with a ton of variations (scroll thru to see a few different takes on this classic look!). To get the look featured in the movie; 1st: Start with clean hair. Blow dry hair in sections with a round brush and secure with a clip to cool. 2nd: Once all hair is finished and you’ve allowed hair to cool for 10-15 mins, release the hair from the clips section by section and add extra curl to your strands with a curling iron (1.5 inch+ rod is best!) (for extra style longevity, re-clip each section back up to cool!) 3rd: Remove all hair clips and secure half of your hair into a half up pony.
3. Barbie’s Side Pony / Side Braid
Barbie’s side ponytail, again, has a few variations; but to get the pony shown in the movie: 1st: Start with clean hair and blow dry from wet to dry with a round brush, pinning each section to allow to cool. 2nd: Allow hair to cool in clips for 10-15 mins. 3rd: Secure hair in a side pony with an elastic band. 4th: Pull out some face framing pieces. 5th: Add any accessories!
4. Barbie’s Crimped / Mermaid Wave Hair
This Barbie hairstyle is best styled with extensions. To get the look you’ll need a large-width crimping iron or mermaid waiver. 1st: Create the part for your hairstyle. 2nd: Section hair. 3rd: Clip in extensions and start to crimp hair from root to ends (depending on heat temp anywhere from 5-10 second hold). Apply heat-protecting hairspray to hair before applying iron to get that super defined crimped look! 4th: Continue all throughout the hair until finished. 5th: Pin back a small section of hair as desired and apply accessory pin. 5. Barbie’s Voluminous All Hair Down Look / Blowout
Barbie’s voluminous blowout is perfect for any occasion! To get this look start with wet hair. 1st: Blow dry hair from wet to dry using a round brush, clipping dry sections to allow to cool. 2nd: Allow blow dried hair to cool 10-15 mins. 3rd: Unclip sections and touch up with a curling iron if desired.
6. Barbie’s Straight Hair Blowout
To get Barbie’s straight hair blow out is the same as Barbie’s voluminous blowout, just don’t clip the sections to cool. This allows the hair to cool straight. Blow dry the hair straight from root to tip.
7. Barbie’s Ponytail Braid
This style is a great modern Barbie hair look that is, again, perfect for all occasions! To style your hair in this perfect ponytail braid look: 1st: Gather all air into a ponytail at the top of your crown. 2nd: Secure with an elastic. 3rd: Braid the ponytail.
8. Barbie Pops of Color Hair
Barbie is no stranger to hair color and adding pops of color to your hair is not only super easy, but a quick way to Barbie-fy your style and add some sparkle to your look! The best way to add this color to your look is through color hair clip-in extensions. (Amazon has some great, inexpensive options!) 1st: Order your hair extensions ahead of time. 2nd: Determine the style you would like to achieve. 3rd: Apply clip in extensions: 4th: Style hair to your liking and enjoy!
9. Barbie’s Classic Straight Long Hair Style
To get Barbie’s 2000’s classic straight hair look you’ll need your straightening iron. 1st: Apply a heat protectant throughout your hair. 2nd: Section your hair and straighten with straightener from root to ends. 3rd: Apply some anti-frizz/hair nourishing serum for care and gloss. 4th: Strut in your pink heels! A second option you have is purchasing a straight haired blonde wig to get the classic Barbie Blonde Hair look!
10. Barbie’s Bang Look
Barbie’s bang look is very easy to create and does not require shears (Hairstylist speak for haircut scissors!)! Extensions are Barbie’s best friend and this style is no exception!! I suggest purchasing some bang extensions from your local beauty supply store or off of Amazon. 1st: Style your hair. 2nd: Clip in bang extensions! And go!
I hope you’ve gathered one, two or TEN amazing Barbie hairstyles from our time together!! Use them in your everyday as we’re all enjoying this current Barbie craze!! Use them for your special events or for Halloween this year (I predict Barbie will REIGN!!)! And as always, I am your most willing hairstylist, here to make all your Barbie dreams come true!!
